David Anthony Campbell is a former Northern Ireland international footballer who played in the midfield position. Born in Eglinton, just outside Derry, Campbell's playing career took off at local intermediate side, Oxford United Stars FC. From there he moved on to Nottingham Forest as an apprentice in June 1981, picking up Northern Ireland youth caps along the way, before signing professional forms at the City Ground in June 1983. At Forest, Campbell's route to a regular first team midfield spot was always going to be difficult, especially with young English talent such as Neil Webb and Steve Hodge also battling to establish themselves. David Ervine was an Irish unionist politician from Northern Ireland and the leader of the Progressive Unionist Party. During his youth Ervine was a member of the Ulster Volunteer Force and was imprisoned for possessing bomb-making equipment. However whilst in jail he became convinced of the benefits of a more political approach to Ulster loyalism and became involved with the PUP. Alderman David Hilditch MLA is a Northern Irish politician for the Democratic Unionist Party. He is an MLA for East Antrim. David Hilditch was born in 1963 in Carrickfergus. He previously worked in the construction industry and for Royal Mail between 1987 and 1998. In February 1997 he was awarded the RUC Bravery Award following a Post Office Robbery. David Hilditch was first elected to Carrickfergus Borough Council in 1991. He was elected as Deputy Mayor in 1995 and elected to Mayor in 1997 and also served as Mayor from 2004 to 2008.
