There has been a resurgence of interest in the Priory of Sion thanks to its depiction in the Dan Brown bestseller “The Da Vinci Code.” Many famous and influential individuals are rumored to have been members of the Priory of Sion.

Who is the most famous member of the Priory of Sion? You guessed it. Leonardo Da Vinci tops our list. Sir Isaac Newton, Victor Hugo and Claude Debussy are also allegedly members of the secret society. Hugo was thought to be the Sion's Grand Master from 1844 through 1885.

The history of the Priory of Sion varies amongst different writers, some of whom do not believe in its existence. The general consensus is that the Sion believed that Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene and he wanted her to run the church after his death. They believe that Magdalene, along with her child whom Christ fathered, went to France after Jesus' crucifixion.
