List of Famous Rosicrucians ranked by fame and popularity. Rosicrucians are a secret society based on ancient documents that were first published in Germany. Rosicrucianism has influenced several Freemason rites including the Rectified Scottish Rite and the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite. Over time, several prominent politicians and influential members of society have been associates of the Rosicrucians.

Who are some of the most famous and influential Rosicrucians? George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and Benjamin Franklin were all members of the secret society. The prolific writer Victor Hugo was also rumored to be a Rosicrucian. Hugo wrote brilliant novels such as “Les Miserables” and “The Hunchback of Notre-Dame.” He was a man of great principles and he decided to live in exile after Louis Napoleon established an anti-parliamentary constitution in France.

Writer, activist and revolutionary Thomas Paine was also a Rosicrucian. Paine famously encouraged the patriots to declare independence from England at the start of the American Revolutionary War. The Italian philosopher Giordano Bruno also followed the teachings of Rosicrucianism.
