Famous Women Who Committed Suicide

It's difficult to discuss suicide. But a number of notable female movie stars, authors, and models have killed themselves over the years, and their stories are worth examining. Many of these women who killed themselves did so after suffering from depression for many years. Some famous women suicides have been debated as being cover-ups for foul play.

Who are some famous women who committed suicide? Marilyn Monroe was found dead in her home on August 5, 1962, at the age of 36. She had apparently overdosed on pills, and her death was ruled a probable suicide. Conspiracy theorists, though, believe that she may have been killed by Robert or John. F. Kennedy; she was rumored to have had affairs with both men.

Virginia Woolf committed suicide by drowning in 1941. In part, her suicide note read, "Dearest, I feel certain that I am going mad again. I feel we can’t go through another of those terrible times. And I shan’t recover this time. I begin to hear voices, and I can’t concentrate. So I am doing what seems the best thing to do. You have given me the greatest possible happiness." Other famous women who committed suicide include Jean Seberg, Dana Plato, and Carole Landis.

Are you surprised that so many famous women have taken their own lives?
