In March 2019, federal prosecutors indicted 50 prominent business owners, Hollywood celebrities, and other wealthy parents for their alleged involvement in a massive bribery scandal. These parents were accused of bribing elite universities - including Wake Forest, Stanford, Yale, and the University of Southern California - into accepting their children, even with less-than-stellar grades and test scores. Prosecutors believe most of the students were likely unaware of the conspiracy.
Full House's Lori Loughlin and Desperate Housewives's Felicity Huffman were implicated in the scandal. Loughlin and her husband, fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, allegedly paid $500,000 "in exchange for having their two daughters designated as recruits to the USC crew team - despite the fact that they did not participate in crew - thereby facilitating their admission to USC," according to official documents. People reports that Huffman apparently gave "$15,000 to help one of her children excel on an entrance exam."
With everyone's favorite childhood aunt charged along with the infamous TV housewife, the internet is making desperate attempts to understand the disappointing revelation though unfiltered humor.
