It's not always easy to tell how old a character is on screen, especially since actors don't always play their own age. Still, there are some characters that really shock you when you find out how old they are supposed to be. Sometimes, actors appear far younger than the characters they are playing, but the reverse is also true.
Check out the following fictional characters from popular films and TV and vote up the ones with the most unexpectedly immature ages.
Claude Frollo is the sinister villain in Disney's The Hunchback in Notre Dame, a child-friendly version of a rather dark story.
Voiced by Tony Jay, Frollo has many qualities of a man in his later years, but he's remarkably younger than he appears. If Disney's Frollo is the same age as the character in the original novel, he's only 36 when he meets his untimely end.
Hans Moleman is drawn like an old man, but appearances can be deceiving. Though he's as wrinkled as Grampa Simpson, he's actually a lot younger than he looks - 31, in fact.
In the Season 4 episode "Duffless," Hans Moleman confesses that his struggle with alcoholism is to blame for his weathered and frail appearance.
He looks like an adult and has shredded muscles, but Piccolo is no older than a third grader.
The Namekian is first introduced as the son of the vicious King Piccolo in Akira Toriyama's original Dragon Ball series. By the end of that series, Piccolo Jr. is three years old. Dragon Ball Z then picks up five years later. That means Earth's second-strongest warrior is just four years older than Gohan when he starts training him to fight the Saiyans.
Scarlett O'Hara is the protagonist of Gone With the Wind, and she's portrayed by Vivien Leigh in the 1939 film adaptation of the novel.
Since Leigh was 26 at the time of the movie's release, it's easy to forget she's supposed to be portraying a 16-year-old girl at the start of the film.
Worf from Star Trek: The Next Generationis a fierce Klingon warrior and dedicated member of Starfleet - and he's got a face only a mother could love.
The intense Klingon makeup that Michael Dorn wore for the part definitely makes Worf look like a combat-hardened veteran, but the character is actually quite young on the show. When he first joins the Enterprise crew, he is only 24 years old.
Nobody thinks of Jolly Ol' Saint Nicholas as a young man. Nobody except Seth McFarlane, that is.
In the Family Guy episode "Road to the North Pole," Santa sings a song about how overworked and stressed he gets around Christmas. There's a line about his age in the song, which goes like this:
