Who should Conor McGregor fight next? When it comes to professional fighting these days, it seems nothing is off the table.  UFC superstar Conor McGregor returns to action for the first time in six months for a rematch versus Dustin Poirier, after the aging martial artist couldn't pull it out at UFC 257 in Abu Dhabi. It makes you wonder, who else would we want to see fight Conor McGregor? Who would be the best UFC matchup for Conor McGregor? Who would be fun to watch Conor McGregor fight?

When thinking about who should fight McGregor next, social media star turned boxer Jake Paul comes to mind, having called out Conor McGregor for months. Other great fighters like Charles Oliveira, Justin Gaethje, or Dan Hooker would present strong technical matchups in the Octagon. It might also be fun to see McGregor return to boxing against Manny Pacquiao, or maybe even step in the wrestling ring versus The Rock.

In 2016, we got two McGregor-Diaz fights.  In UFC 196, Diaz took the first fight by submission with a wicked rear-naked choke.  McGregor took the next fight through a controversial decision in UFC 202.  We've had one trilogy match set up so far, why not make it two?

Following a strong run of four straight knockout wins, Gaethje landed himself in an envious position in 2020. Should he fight Conor McGregor or Khabib Nurmagomedov?  Unfortunately, Gaethje went with Khabib and found himself on the wrong end of a second round triangle choke submission. Gaethje is a good fighter and could still make an apt opponent for McGregor in the future.

Following his defeat to Charles Oliveira for the UFC lightweight title belt in 2021, the wind has died down in Michael Chandler's sails.  However, he's still a really strong technical fighter in his prime and already TKO'd Dan Hooker in UFC 257 earlier this year.  The three-time Bellator MMA champion has long felt he could wipe out McGregor in the Octagon, and now that he's officially fighting for UFC, it may be time to give him the chance.

After an up-and-down middle of his career, where the lightweight grappler went 8-8 in his fights across a seven-year span, the Brazilian has completely turned his career around.  Since 2018, Oliveira has been absolutely on fire, winning NINE straight bouts- including five by submission, two TKOs, and one knock out.  After lightweight champion Khabib retired earlier this year, Oliveira stepped in and delivered a knockout performance to take the vacant title belt and become the lightweight champion of the world.  If Conor can muster the performance to take down Poirier in the trilogy, why not go for the reigning champ next?
