Your Favorite Movie Casts, Reunited

Updated October 21, 2020 13.6m views63 items

How can you tell when a movie is truly great? Likely when the actors finish the film, and you just want to see them back together as if they were a real family or really close friends. You want to check in with them over the years to see if the celebs are still hanging out, keeping their signature looks, and saying the same catchphrases. ("Inconceivable!")

Well, thank goodness for three things: Entertainment Weekly, Good Morning America, and social media. Because without them, we may never see these film cast reunions. Each year, Entertainment Weekly puts together a reunion issue, which Good Morning America usually covers on air. And for the ones that slip through the cracks - sometimes they just get together, hang out, and post their reunions themselves on Instagram and Twitter.

This list has some of your favorite classics, from The Goonies and The Way We Were to Forrest Gump and Clueless. Granted, there's usually at least one person who opts out of the reunion photo op, but who needs Joe Pesci when you've got Goodfellas like Ray Liotta, Robert DeNiro, and Lorraine Bracco. Check out this list of movie cast reunions to see pictures of some of your favorite movie casts back together again years later. Reunited and it feels so good.

Legally Blonde, released in 2001, spawned a sequel (with another one on the way); a Broadway musical; and according to the ABA Journal, "influenced a generation of women lawyers." Reese Witherspoon stars as Elle Woods, a college senior and sorority president from Southern California majoring in fashion merchandising. Elle attempts to get a law degree from Harvard after her boyfriend, Warner Huntington III (Matthew Davis), who plans to attend Harvard Law School, dumps her because he doesn't think she's serious enough for his future ambitions.

Elle is pretty smart despite blond stereotypes, and also happens to be a pretty good lawyer, even as a student. While serving as an intern on a high-profile case, she ends up helping to win the case and graduates at the top of her Harvard class.

In October 2020, the cast of Legally Blonde gathered for a virtual reunion during the coronavirus pandemic to raise funds for the nonprofit World Central Kitchen's #ChefsforAmerica program, provides meals to families and seniors in need.

Reese Witherspoon (Elle Woods), at the center of the Brady Bunch-style screen, was joined by host Chloe Fineman of Saturday Night Live along with her fellow Legally Blonde castmates Matthew Davis (Warner Huntington III), Luke Wilson (Emmett), Selma Blair (Vivian), Jessica Cauffiel (Margot), Jennifer Coolidge (Paulette), Ali Larter (Brooke Taylor Windham), Holland Taylor (Professor Stromwell), and Alanna Ubach (Serena).

Witherspoon said Woods "inspired people to believe in themselves. She just has a true sense of herself and she always wants to see the best in others... I think her spirit is something that we could all use a little bit more of right now."

Among other topics, they discussed behind-the-scenes secrets including the fact that the "bend and snap" scene was supposed to be a full musical number; Witherspoon was sweltering in her first-day-of-school sweater (filmed at UCLA on a hot day); Ubach and Cauffiel helped each other out at their audition; and people still recognize Davis for being the rotten boyfriend from Legally Blonde.

The cast answered questions from Fineman, but mostly gushed over and were genuinely excited to see each other. Witherspoon summed up the experience:

This was my college... This is where I went to college. I didn't finish college but I finished Legally Blonde. We all... made this movie together that has inspired so many young people. It's just such a gift... Every time people come up to me and tell me they love this movie, I give it all to you.

The Barden Bellas - including Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Hailee Steinfeld, Anna Camp, and Brittany Snow - reunited virtually in August 2020 to perform an a cappella, socially distanced version of Beyonce's song "Love on Top" as a fundraiser. Proceeds from downloads and streams of their version of the tune will go to UNICEF to benefit children in Lebanon and around the world.

The video opens with Pitch Perfect commentator John Smith (John Michael Higgins) saying, "I'm afraid I have some bad news. The Barden Bellas have gotten back together again. It seems that not even a quarantine can prevent them from harassing us with another musical performance."
