Lily And James Were First Years When The War Started

    From Redditor u/joellevp:

The First Wizarding War would have started around the time Lily and James would have started their first year at Hogwarts.

The Weasley Family Were Considered 'Blood Traitors' During The War

    From a former Redditor:

I think they also get looked down upon for being "blood traitors." Families who have a pureblood superiority complex (e.g. the Malfoy family) are disgusted by the Weasleys for having Pureblood status, yet socializing with and supporting Halfbloods and Muggle-borns. I think because of this hatred for the Weasleys, some people would do anything they could to make them feel "less than," so their lack of wealth was just another thing to bully them about.

The War Played Out More Like Numerous Terrorist Attacks Than Massive Battles

    From Redditor u/unspeakable3:

Voldemort's threat is so strong that an entire community is too terrified to even speak his name. In Sorcerer's Stone, Hagrid says that people didn't know who to trust, were wary of strangers, that some people stood up to Voldemort and were killed horribly. In Goblet of Fire, Sirius says that it was impossible to tell who was working for Voldemort and who wasn't, that he could control people to do things without being able to stop themselves, that the Ministry was unable to cope, that people were dying, disappearing, and being tortured

This isn't an out-and-out war in the sense that there are pitched battles being fought. This is more terrorism + possibly small skirmishes between Death Eaters and Aurors/the Order.

Molly Weasley's Brothers Were Killed During The First War

A few of my friends never realized that Molly's brothers, Gideon and Fabian Prewett, were in the Order, and that they died during the First War.

There Were More Than Just The Two Wizarding Wars

    From Redditor u/cecinestpasreddit:

There used to be a great many wars in the Wizarding World. The First and Second wizarding wars were just the wars of the new era, some of the first wars in which the wizards had to completely hide their conflict from the muggles.

Lucius Malfoy Likely Stopped Hogwarts From Teaching About The History Of The War While He Was On The Board

    From Redditor u/Drafo7:

Remember that until the end of Harry's second year, Lucius Malfoy was on the Board of Governors for Hogwarts. I imagine he would use as much influence as he could, without drawing suspicion to himself, to prevent pro-muggle/muggle-born teachings from being in the Hogwarts curriculum. Naturally, he couldn't do much about the Muggle Studies class without being openly racist, but preventing Voldemort being taught in a history class probably wouldn't have been too difficult, especially considering how little resistance there'd be.
