It's difficult to determine the sex of most animals without actually examining their genitals. Flemish giants, however, exhibit some sexual dimorphism, which means that you can tell the difference at a glance. Males, also called bucks, have broader heads than their female counterparts. Meanwhile, the females, also called does, have dewlaps under their chins. Dewlaps are large flaps of fur-coated skin that rest under a female rabbit's chin, which can be used to keep baby bunnies warm.

Flemish Giants come in seven different colors: sandy, fawn, white, light grey, steel grey, black, and blue. These colors are the only recognized ones according to the American Rabbit Breeders Association, but crossbreeding can result in unique combinations. Because the American Rabbit Breeders Association has strict standards about the appearance of rabbits that are shown in competition, crossbreeding is discouraged.
