After unsuccessful tests with the prototype ZIL-Moscow in 1956 the ZIL-111 was introduced from ZIL in 1958. The styling was inspired by the mid-1950s Packard, a United States automobile manufacturer. It was powered by a 6.0 L V8 engine producing 200 PS connected to an automatic transmission giving a top speed of 170 km/h. Apart from a basic version ZiL-111, there was produced ZiL-111A with air conditioning and convertible ZiL-111V. The convertible based on the ZiL-111 was dubbed ZiL-111V. In December 1962 the car was restyled and it was available both as sedan ZiL-111G and convertible ZiL-111D. The ZIL-131 is a general purpose 3.5 tons 6x6 army truck designed in the Soviet Union by ZIL. The basic model being a general cargo truck. Variants include a tractor-trailer truck, a dump truck, a fuel truck, and a 6x6 for towing a 4-wheeled powered trailer. The ZIL-131 also serves as a platform for the 9P138 rocket launcher, a 30-tube variant of the BM-21 "Grad". The ZIL-131 has a civilian version the ZIL-130, both were introduced in 1967 as a family of two trucks sharing identical components. The ZIL-131 6x6 has the same equipment as the GAZ-66 and Ural-375D. ZIL-114 is a limousine from ZIL introduced in 1970 to replace the ZIL-111 series which was gradually becoming out of date. The design of the ZIL-114 began in 1962, with pre-production copies appearing in 1966. In almost all respects, the ZIL-114 improved on the 111, 111A and 111G models. The engine, still a ZIL-designed and built pushrod V8, was increased in capacity from 5,980 cc to 6,959 cc, resulting in an increase of power by 30 percent and of maximum speed from approximately 170 km/h to 200 km/h. Transmission was two-speed automatic, with hydraulic torque converter; manual transmission was optional. A three-speed gearbox was offered beginning in April 1975.
