The Funniest Movies Starring SNL Cast Members

Updated February 16, 2021 8.0k votes 442 voters 14.6k views126 items

List RulesVote up the funniest comedy movies that star present or former members of the "Saturday Night Live" cast.

Which comedies starring former SNL cast members are actually funny and worth watching? Since Saturday Night Live debuted in 1975, the sketch series has launched many careers, with plenty of SNL cast members going on to star in classic comedy films. Actors like Steve Martin, Kristen Wiig, and John Belushi found post-SNL fame, largely thanks to their roles in comedies like Father of the Bride, Bridesmaids, and Animal House.

This list is not limited to movies based on SNL sketches. Mean Girls was never an SNL sketch, but the screenplay was written by Tina Fey, and she and her former "Weekend Update" co-anchor Amy Poehler both appear in the teen comedy. Considered among the funniest female SNL alumni, they also re-teamed on the big screen in 2008's Baby Mama.

Below you’ll find any funny comedies with an SNL alum in the main cast. From Tommy Boy to Anchorman, which movies featuring SNL cast members are the funniest? Did we miss any? Vote up the best and add any others you love that aren’t yet listed.
