There's no question that Persona 5 is an amazing game — it's known to be one of the best modern JRPGs and has become a recognizable piece of gaming pop culture even to those who don't know much about the genre. While the playtime can easily stretch past 100 hours, the game, unfortunately, has to end at some point. However, there are plenty of other games like Persona 5 out there that are similar in many ways, whether in the narrative, the gameplay, or in the atmosphere.
As one of the most acclaimed JRPG series of all time, the Persona games have steadily grown in popularity over the years, with Persona 5 Royal being the latest entry in the series. Fire Emblem: Three Houses is one of the most similar titles to Persona 5 on this list, considering it features both social simulation and combat-based gameplay. The games even both include school settings; just swap Persona's modern high school setting for a fantastical high school, and you have Three Houses.
Regardless of the genre, Fire Emblem's colorful characters and solid game design means it'll definitely scratch that JRPG itch. Three Houses includes an extremely colorful cast of playable characters and NPCs, and while the gameplay is slightly more straightforward, it also focuses heavily on developing relationships.

Many players don't know that the Persona series actually began as a spinoff from the Megami Tensei series, which makes sense considering they've gone on to outshine the games that came before them. Regardless, the Megami Tensei series has some great experiences to offer, like Devil Survivor for the Nintendo DS.
The game was actually designed with newcomers to strategy games in mind, so this is a great jumping-off point if you're looking to ease your way into the RPG genre.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions is actually a crossover game between Nintendo's Fire Emblem series and Atlus's Shin Megami Tensei series, of which the Persona games are a spinoff. While the game was originally released for the Wii U in 2016, an enhanced port for the Nintendo Switch dropped in January 2020.
Reminiscent of Fire Emblem games with a few classic Persona elements blended in, the Switch port was an instant—albeit quiet—hit. This gem was considered by many JRPG fans as one of the best games for Wii U, so it's not one to miss out on.

If you're looking for a fantasy-based action RPG, the Xenoblade Chronicles series is a must, with four games spanning Nintendo consoles from the Wii to the Switch. Unlike Persona 5's turn-based combat system, the Xenoblade games have traditionally incorporated real-time systems instead, so it's a good option for those who want a change of pace.
A more fantastical world is also a departure from the relatively grounded Persona games, making this series more of a sister than a twin within the JRPG genre.
