Thanos Brainwashed Gamora With The Mind Stone

    From a Redditor :

When the person Gamora, Nebula, and Korath were hunting seemingly unlocked all of Gamora's repressed memories from when she was a child it got me thinking about how that could be loosely applied to the MCU.

The Mind Stone was allegedly lent out to Loki by Thanos prior to the events in Avengers. Does that mean that while raising his multiple adopted children Thanos brainwashed each one into complete obedience? Post-Avengers, the Mind Stone is no longer in the possession of Thanos and he might be losing his grip on the minds of his children. Without the presence of the Mind Stone, Gamora was able to have her first free thought since her abduction. This lead to her regaining a set of morals and values independent from Thanos's. By the time we see her in the MCU's GotG, she has her own goals in mind when going rogue from Ronan.

Gamora Would Have Been Killed Had She Not Balanced The Knife

Photo: Avengers: Infinity War / Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures

    From Redditor u/Hypnyp:

Thanos culls planets so that half survive. Not every planet he visits will have an even population like say 1,000. Gamora's planet was evenly divided except for her, who was given personal attention. Thanos gave her knife to see where the balance would fall. If she had been unable to "balance the knife" she would not be taken into his group of space orphans who he had done the same thing to. Gamora would have been culled with the rest of the unfortunate people.

Gamora Was Ready To Do Anything Necessary To Stop Thanos

Photo: Guardians of the Galaxy vol 2 / Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures

    From a Redditor :

We know from Infinity War it was always in the back of her mind that should Thanos ever find her she'd need to end her own life. I'm positing she has been ready to kill herself any time she is near capture because she knows she is the key to his plan.

    • GotG1 she has a knife to her throat in the prison and has done zero to fight back. Since then we have seen she is a truly elite fighter and in retrospect could have possibly beaten them all back, but doesn't so much as even try. Before then she had a plan with the power orb (as is said on screen), but now she just accepts death. I think she does this because she's worried Thanos could show up at the prison and take her.
    • GotG2 she says, "It is only one click but we have to go through that quantum asteroid field" - either she is a complete idiot or they have vastly inferior tracking on their ship relative to the Sovereigns who easily go around it (who also weren't any faster in the asteroid field). If she gets caught by the Sovereign she knows Thanos might grab her, so goes for the riskier move with higher pay off full well knowing they all might die.
    • A3 they're dividing up in to groups with Thor. For whatever reason she doesn't go with Thor, Groot, and Trash Panda to the location that is expected to not have Thanos. She does this because she has made sure Peter has accepted the idea of killing her should things goes sideways; on the other side if she goes with Thor's team and happen to run in to Thanos there is no one to kill her.

Theory: one time each movie we see her she is near possible capture and she accepts or pushes towards death.

    Gamora Is Thanos' Biological Daughter

Photo: Avengers: Infinity War / Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures

    From Redditor u/xmr10:

TL;DR: Thanos is biological father of Gamora, because Red Skull said so.

Here's my theory. Gamora is a biological daughter of Thanos, not adopted. Proof? I give you Red Skull, who seems to know father of everyone.

In Endgame, Red Skull knew who father of Nat was, who she never knew the name of. This means that Red Skull has some kind of skill that makes him able to recognize one's father, despite the one's knowledge of who the father is. And in Infinity War, when Red Skull meets Gamora, he clearly says 'Gamora, daughter of Thanos.' If Gamora had a real father, Red Skull would've said that name, not Thanos.

Which means Thanos is the real and biological father of Gamora. This might explain why Thanos loved Gamora so much. And why he preferred Gamora over Nebula.
