List of Gay Celebrities Who Came Out in High School, loosely ranked by fame and popularity. Many gay celebrities wait to publicly come out until they have established their place in Hollywood. A few famous folks actually came out as gay when they were still in high school. This list includes some actors, musicians, and even a fashion designer.

Who is the most famous person who came out while young? Chris Colfer tops our list. "Struck by Lightning" writer/actor Chris Colfer is openly gay. He said that his parents were always accepting of him, but he was bullied at school. He has been an inspiration to teens all over the world with his portrayal of Kurt on “Glee.”

Rupert Everett came out in high school, but he doesn't necessarily think that it is good for your career to be openly gay in Hollywood. He said, "The fact is that you could not be, and still cannot be, a 25-year-old homosexual trying to make it in the British film business or the American film business or even the Italian film business. It just doesn't work and you're going to hit a brick wall at some point. You're going to manage to make it roll for a certain amount of time, but at the first sign of failure they'll cut you right off... Honestly, I would not advise any actor necessarily, if he was really thinking of his career, to come out."

Do you think that it is more difficult to come out in high school or is it tougher as an adult? Share your thoughts in the comments section.
