Beloved '80s classic Ghostbusters has spent the better part of four decades redefining the horror-comedy genre while developing an almost cult-like following among new and old fans along the way. The original two movies introduced audiences to the comedy antics of Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, Egon Spengler, Winston Zeddemore, the ever-helpful Janine, and of course, Slimer - all of whom have fashioned a place in pop-culture history.
But what if there were more to see? More Venkman, more Egon, even more Stay Puft Marshmallow Man...
Thanks to recent Blu-ray releases of both Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II, deleted scenes have made it out into the world, delighting fans with what could have been. Here are a few deleted scenes from the first two movies that offer a new glimpse into the firehouse. Vote up the scenes that you wish were included in the final cut.
"I lived in New York my whole life and never once visited the Statue of Liberty, and now I finally get here, and we're taking her for a walk!" - Winston Zeddemore
After the boys spray down the insides of the Statue of Liberty in the second movie and play "(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher" by Jackie Wilson, the landmark starts to walk, which leaves the boys with a dilemma: how to drive the statue.
The scene explains how the Ghostbusters were able to control Lady Liberty.
In this deleted scene from the first film, Ray and Winston investigate paranormal activity at Fort Detmerring in the Single Officers' Quarters, a historical site that was restored as a tourist attraction. While there, Ray tries on a uniform and enjoys the four-poster bed, immediately falling asleep. While he snores, a beautiful specter floats above him, waking him from his slumber to have relations with the Ghostbuster.
Though the scene was cut, parts of it were used in the music montage, making little sense to the audience without the full backstory.

After Dana is unable to prove the existence of supernatural forces in her apartment to the original Ghostbusters, Peter Venkman attempts to reassure her by checking on her. She calls him out on his "concern," yelling at him in frustration. He attempts to reassure her, says he believes her, and asks to spend the night, to which Dana has one response: "Get out."
"If you are right, and we can actually catch a ghost and hold it... I might win the Nobel Prize." - Peter Venkman
After the trio meets the ghostly librarian in the first movie, they talk about the scientific ability to trap and capture ghosts. As they chat, they don't notice that a custodian is scraping their names off the door to their offices.
"Now get out of my... WHOA!" - Jack Hardemeyer's final words
Frustrated that the Ghostbusters are foiling his plans, Ghostbusters II antagonist Jack Hardemeyer loses his cool when he and Mayor Lenny are dragged to the Manhattan Museum of Art, which is now covered in ooze. Peter explains to the mayor that they tried to warn them about this, but Jack had them committed instead.
To prove the Ghostbusters wrong, Jack tries to remove the ooze himself while yelling at it, but he gets vaporized, leaving only his shoes behind. After a moment of silence, the mayor says, "Alright. Tell me what you need."
"Why would you want to be a Ghostbuster if you are already an accountant?" - Janine Melnitz
This scene from the second movie features the unlikely comedy duo, Louis and Slimer, as the accountant hunts for the gross ghost in the firehouse. Louis spots him, and as he fires the proton pack, he almost hits Janine. He tells Janine he's been training in secret and asks for her to not spill the beans. The scene ends with Janine promising to keep Louis's secret.
