If you’re already a fan of Glossier’s Milky Jelly Cleanser or their Skin Perfecting Tint, it’s time to get ready for the next level of Glossier skin care: Glossier Solution.
In early 2018, Glossier unveiled their new acne-fighting acid treatment, Solution, with a viral marketing campaign that included before and after pictures of people who used Glossier Solution. The photos proved that Glossier Solution skincare is exactly what you need in your routine if you’re looking to feel confident going makeup-free.
On the other hand, Solution is a little intimidating - it’s marketed as an “acid exfoliator,” which sounds intense. But you don’t need to be scared of acids anymore! Scroll through to learn more about Glossier’s new product (including how its active ingredients work) and check out the compelling pictures before and after Glossier Solution. Then, go grab yourself a bottle of this skincare savior from Glossier, $24.
Solution Uses Exfoliating Acids To Slough Off Dead Skin
Solution is the first big-time skincare product millennial beauty brand Glossier has launched. It includes three active acids that work to exfoliate your skin - but this type of exfoliation probably isn't what you're used to.
Instead of sloughing off dead skin with sandy face washes or textured sponges, Solution exfoliates with AHA, BHA, and PHA. All three are liquid acids that gently but quickly remove dead skin cells by loosening the bonds between your dead skin cells and the glowing skin that lives beneath them. Can you say "miracle product"?
Using The Solution Is Easy
Unless you're familiar with Biologique Recherche Lotion P50 or Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Exfoliant, chances are you've never incorporated an acid solution into your skincare routine before. Here's how to use it:
- Soak a cotton round in Solution and apply all over freshly-cleansed, dry skin.
- Follow with your usual moisturizer. Solution has a tendency to be drying, so you'll want to add some extra hydration to your skin!
- Don't mix it with other acids or retinol creams. The combination will likely be too harsh for the thin skin on your face.
- You can use it morning and night, but if you have extra-sensitive skin, you may want to ease into Solution. Try it only at night first, and work your way up to two times a day. Acids are intense!
People Cannot Stop Raving About The Results
Before releasing Solution, Glossier put the product through a four-week clinical trial - and the results are compelling. After four weeks of use, 7 out of 10 people said skin looked transformed, and 94% of users with acne-prone skin said their skin was clearer.
Still not convinced? The proof is in the customer reviews. One woman says, "I have suffered from relatively severe cystic acne since I was 17 years old. Now 25, I had pretty much given up on having clear skin and then BOOM I try solution on a whim. My skin has NEVER been clearer, y'all."
Solution even empowered this customer to ditch her makeup: "For the first time in YEARS I feel comfortable leaving my house without makeup on. For reference, I have really dry and sensitive skin. Other acne products tend to dry out my skin and actually make things worse. But Solution is the right balance of gentle and effective."
An ELLE editor even tried it for two weeks and concluded, "Skin has subtly become more 'clean' looking, definitely feels smoother and is less reactive to any irritants. It's not a hugely tangible difference, I just feel more confident in my skin, which is the biggest win I could hope for."
Do You Need It In Your Skincare Routine?
All signs point to yes! The main active ingredient in Solution is salicylic acid, which is an age-old acne treatment - so if you suffer from acne, this product is definitely for you.
Even if you don't have much acne, Solution might be a great everyday exfoliator to incorporate into your routine. Just pat some on in the evenings instead of any harsh, plastic bead exfoliating washes and watch your skin transform.
