The Best Gold Things

Over 300 Ranker voters have come together to rank this list of The Best Gold Things

Selling your gold? GET CASH NOW. Just kidding, nobody wants to buy your ugly old jewelry. What they do want to buy is other gold things, like Pepperidge Farm Goldfish Snack Crackers and the Blu-ray box set of all seven seasons of The Golden Girls. What are the best gold things ever in history? Ever since James W. Marshall discovered gold at Sutter's Mill in 1848, America has had veritable gold fever. In the decades since, gold has made its way into everything from dogs (Golden Retriever) to gymnasiums (Gold's Gym) to 1980s TV dance programs (Solid Gold). Why, the fictional town of Hill Valley, California, even elected a man named Goldie Wilson to serve as its Mayor for at least 8 years!

Gold popularity is not restricted to this side of the pond (Atlantic Ocean), either. Gold is popular in such things as The Golden Snitch at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and the James Bond film Goldeneye, and also the video game Goldeneye 007. Do non-Americans enjoy the comedic stylings of Bobcat Goldthwait and/or Nancy Gold? You bet they might. Foreign teens might even try to choke down some Goldschlรคger Schnapps or even try some Golden Grahams cereal. Un-pre-dictable!

What are your favorite gold, golden, goldie, or goldish people, foods, films, or whatever? Vote them up, or make sure to add them to the list.

Golden retrievers are well suited to residency in suburban or country environments. They shed copiously, particularly at the change of seasons, and require fairly regular grooming. The Golden Retriever was originally bred in Scotland in the mid-19th century. The breed is a prominent participant in conformation shows for purebred dogs. The Golden Retriever is popular as a disability assistance dog, such as being a guide dog for the blind and a hearing dog for the deaf. In addition, they are trained to be a hunting dog, a detection dog, and a search and rescue participant. The breed's friendly, gentle temperament means it is unsuited to being a professional guard dog, but its temperament has also made it the third-most popular family dog breed (by registration) in the United States, the fifth-most popular in Brazil and Australia, and the eighth-most popular in the United Kingdom. Golden Retrievers are rarely choosy eaters, but require ample (two or more hours a day) exercise. The breed is fond of play but also highly trainable.
