Who are the best musicians to have ever played the harp? These best harpists of all time are from different eras throughout history, but are all in credibly talented at the harp.The harp is a stringed instrument originally of Persian origin It varies in size and number of strings, but is typically large and played in the lap or sitting down. Various kinds of harps are found in Europe, Africa, Asia, and North, and South America.

The musicians on this list are the best harpists to have played the instrument and have the ability to execute flawless music, whether its a rehearsed piece or more improvisational. These musicians have helped define their respective musical eras and helped define the techniques used when playing the harp.

The best harp players of all time are from all over the world and include great musicians such as Elias Parish Alvars, Elizabeth Hainen, Harpo Marx, and Judy Loman. To become one of the best harp players ever in the world great commitment, a strong work ethic, and dedication.

    September 2016, Agnès Clément wins the First Prize at the ARD Music Competition in Munich, together with the Public Prize and the Prize for the best interpretation of the commissioned piece. 

    A French harpist born in 1990, Agnès Clément studied harp and bassoon at the conservatories of Clermont Ferrand and Boulogne Billancourt before continuing her study with Fabrice Pierre in the class of the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon, where she was awarded the highest distinction at the age of 22 years old. 

    In July 2010, just 20 years old, Agnes Clement won the First Prize of the prestigious USA International Harp Competition in Bloomington. She has also won several other competitions, such as Gisèle Tissier-Grandpierre Price of the Institute of France, the second prize at the International Competition Valentino Bucci  in Rome, the third prize at the International Harp Competition Lily Laskine in Paris.

    Since her solo debut at the Salle Gaveau in Paris and at the Lyon & Healy Concert Hall in Chicago, she has been regularly invited to perform on the international stage (Switzerland - Musical Summits of Gstaad; Canada - World Harp Congress; France; Italy, Belgium), and in particular the United States where she toured recitals (New York, Boston, Indianapolis, Chicago, Bloomington, Philadelphia, Denver, Washington). In 2012 she was invited to China by the Festival Croisements to give her interpretation of the Glière Concerto with the Hunan Philharmonic Orchestra and the Wuhan Symphonic orchestra. She also performed as a soloist with the Bavarian Radio Orchestra (Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks), the Munich Chamber Orchestra,  the Victor Hugo Orchestra France-Comté in Besançon, the Auvergne Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Republican Guard in Paris, the New Europe Chamber Orchestra and the Summer Festival Orchestra in Bloomington. 

    In the next season she will appear on the german radios SüdwestRundfunk, Deutschlandradio Kultur, Deutschlandfunk; in soloist with orchestras as Deutsches Sinfonieorchester Berlin, Neue Philharmonie Westfalen, Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Colombia, Nürnberg Symphoniker Orchester; and in Festivals as Frauenkirsche Dresden, Mosbacher Klassische Konzerte, Bamberg Musikverein Festival, Kammermusik Festival Liesborner Museumskonzerte and Gioventù Musicale d’Italia.

    Since 2013 Agnes Clement has been the principal harpist in the orchestra of the Brussels Opera La Monnaie. She is regularly invited to play with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the Auvergne Orchestra and the Bavarian Radio Orchestra in Munich, and has played under the direction of conductors such as Simon Rattle, Daniel Harding, John Eliot Gardiner, Kazushi Ono, Alain Altinoglu. 

    Agnès Clément also regularly gives master classes in the US and in Belgium (Royal Conservatory of Antwerp, the Lemmens Institute in Leuven, Abbey of Bonne Espérance in Estinnes) 

    In 2012 she recorded Dance, her first CD for harp with the Lyon & Healy Records label.
