List RulesPlease only rank the players based on their time with the Twins
This is a list of the greatest Minnesota Twins in the history of the team. With roots in cities like Kansas City (where the franchise started as the Blues in 1894) and Washington, D.C. (the Senators from 1901-1960), the Minnesota Twins have resided in the Northern Midwest since 1961. Since the franchise's move to Minnesota, the Twins have been one of the most successful small-to-mid market franchises in baseball. The Twins currently have four players inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Minnesota has traditionally drafted well and acquired talent through shrewd trades, all while taking into account its tight budget.
One of the best and most popular Minnesota Twins of all time is Kirby Puckett. Before his career was cut short by an eye injury during spring training in 1996, Puckett was a 10-time All Star, six time Gold Glove winner and won the American League batting title in 1989. But more importantly, Puckett has one of the most important, if not THE biggest hit in franchise history. Puckett blasted a game winning home run in the bottom of the 11th inning in Game 6 of the 1991 World Series that kept the Twins alive in the series and they eventually defeated the Atlanta Braves in 7. Puckett was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2001 and his number was retired in 1997.
