List Rules Greatest Russian figure skaters, retired or active.

List of the greatest Russian figure skaters, including those who are currently active in the sport and those who are no longer competing, male and female, living and deceased. These Russian figure skaters have earned the title of ‘greatest’ thanks to their dedication to the sport, with most winning multiple medals across a range of figure skating events, including the Russian Figure Skating Championships and the Olympic Winter Games.

How could any list of the greatest Russian figure skaters be complete without one of the most notable women in Russian figure skating -- Irina Slutskaya? In fact, some might say she’s the most celebrated; Slutskaya has been named champion at the European Figure Skating Championships, the Russian Figure Skating Championships, the World Figure Skating Championships, and the Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final. With so many medals to her name, she’s earned her place on this list of the greatest figure skaters from Russia.

Of course, men’s figure skating in Russia has also produced its share of greats. A prime example can be found in Evgeni Plushenko, who has earned the gold medal at the Russian Figure Skating Championships not once, not twice, but 10 times. Plushenko participated in the 2002, 2006, and 2010 Winter Olympic Games and was named as the sole entry in the men’s single skating event for the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi.

This list includes all of the great names in Russian figure skating, from the big names such as Slutskaya and Plushenko to the lesser-known greats who’ve still made their mark on the sport. Whether you’re a figure skating fan, it’s hard not to appreciate the athleticism and grace of these greatest Russian figure skaters.
