No list of the greatest Russian figure skaters could be complete without one of the most notable women in Russian figure skating - Irina Slutskaya. In fact, some might say she's the most celebrated; Slutskaya has been named champion at the European Figure Skating Championships, the Russian Figure Skating Championships, the World Figure Skating Championships, and the Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final. With so many medals to her name, she's earned her place on this list of the greatest figure skaters from Russia.
Of course, men's figure skating in Russia has also produced its share of greats. A prime example can be found in Evgeni Plushenko, who has earned the gold medal at the Russian Figure Skating Championships not once, not twice, but 10 times. Plushenko participated in the 2002, 2006, and 2010 Winter Olympic Games and was named as the sole entry in the men's single skating event for the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi.
