There aren't many characters in film that can make an entire audience weep uncontrollably with three words and a literal tree hug. This character is, of course, Groot from the Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers franchises in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Groot and his younger forms became household names overnight and are among some of the most meme-able characters that have graced the silver screen and will continue to be paragons of meme excellence for decades to come (or at least until Baby Yoda finds his family in The Mandalorian and we get multiple Baby Yodas on screen at the same time).
