Though he's a skilled illusionist who's mastered many forms of magic, the grossest David Blaine magic tricks are often the one's that stand out the most. David Blaine's magic is built around shock and surprise. For decades, Blaine has starred in television specials that feature mind-boggling tricks performed for celebrities and random people on the street. While the specials often focus on a dangerous, highly promoted stunt, he fills out the run time with unbelievable feats that sometimes turn stomachs.
In 2016, Blaine filmed a trick in Las Vegas for his special, Beyond Magic. The centerpiece of the special was possibly the most dangerous he's ever tried: catching a bullet in his mouth. Less a magic trick than a feat of extreme willpower and nerve, Blaine stares down the barrel of a rifle, opens wide, and pulls a string himself to fire a bullet into his mouth. The secret to his survival is a metal cup held in his throat to catch and cushion the bullet's impact.
One attempt at the feat almost killed Blaine. The metal cup slipped out of the mouth guard held in Blaine's teeth, and when he pulled the trigger, the bullet shattered the cup and hit the back of his throat. Blaine survived with minor cuts to his throat, but the accident showed that this unnerving trick might leave an audience with PTSD if it failed again.
In April 2018, Blaine appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to perform tricks for the host, house band The Roots, and guest Priyanka Chopra. Chopra held the late-night host's phone to both record the incident and serve as a mirror for the magician. Blaine then pulled out a needle and thread and sewed his own mouth shut. The needle and thread routine prompted some audience members to faint or throw up, but Blaine wasn't done. He then performed a card trick with his mouth sewn shut, and you might be able to guess where the card ended up.
In this trick, Blaine asked his audience to think about a small animal that fits in the palm of a hand. The conversation turned to frogs, which the magician would spit out seemingly at will. If that freaks you out, do be ashamed. Dave Chappelle and Steph Curry reacted the same way. Even if there is a physical explanation for how Blaine did this trick, it still requires that the magician swallow multiple frogs and let them swim and hop around in his stomach before revealing them.
In a crowd of onlookers, Blaine grasped a woman's canine teeth and somehow pulled them from her mouth. The camera zoomed in on the woman's mouth, which revealed two empty holes in her teeth where she could stick her tongue. Blaine appeared to chew up the teeth before he somehow blew them back into the woman's mouth. This trick pairs the shock of the classic "got your nose" trick and the recurring nightmare where your teeth fall out.
