When that involves body switching, animal cruelty, and violent fantasy adventures, though, it's clear that even beloved classics secretly depressing conclusions.That's not to say movies can't have bleak endings. There&#39;s a reason why some of the directors listed with these great films are repeated. Certain directors have quite the eye for insanely good opening movie scenes. Steven Spielberg and Quentin Tarantino fall squarely into the category, directing favorites such as&nbsp;Jaws and Inglourious Basterds, respectively. Orson Welles, Stanley Kubrick, and various members of the Coppola family are just as good with several of their films also making the cut.

But what makes a great opening scene? That&#39;s often a matter of opinion. Some might opt for the first scene of Trainspotting, while others will respect what is shown first in films such as Scream, Once Upon a Time in the West, or The Dark Knight.

What all of these do is make us want to watch the rest of the movie that much more. Accidents

Although most movies rely on fake blood for gory special&nbsp;effects, there are cases in which&nbsp;unfortunate <a href="https://www.ranker.com/list/real-actor-pain-in-movies/lee-emjay" target="_blank">actors injured while filming</a> have contributed their own blood to the final cut.

These bloody injuries are often the result of a simple accident on set. Instead of interrupting filming and bandaging their injured bodies, however, these actors choose to stay in character and see the scene through to completion. Their artistic decision lends some authenticity&nbsp;to the film&#39;s violence, although they do have to sacrifice their own well-being along the way.

Forrest Gump is a 1994 American epic romantic-comedy-drama film based on the 1986 novel of the same name by Winston Groom. The film was directed by Robert Zemeckis and stars Tom Hanks, Robin Wright, Gary Sinise, Mykelti Williamson, and Sally Field. Principal photography took place in late 1993, mainly in Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Extensive visual effects were used to incorporate the protagonist into archived footage and to develop other scenes. A comprehensive soundtrack was featured in the film, using music intended to pinpoint specific time periods portrayed on screen.

Big is a 1988 American fantasy comedy film directed by Penny Marshall, and stars Tom Hanks as Josh Baskin, a young boy who makes a wish "to be big" and is then aged to adulthood overnight. The film also stars Elizabeth Perkins, John Heard, and Robert Loggia and was written by Gary Ross and Anne Spielberg.
Big was the latest and most successful of a series of age-changing comedies produced in the late 1980s, the others being: Like Father Like Son, 18 Again!, Vice Versa, and the Italian film Da grande.

Aliens

Aliens is a 1986 American science-fiction action horror film written and directed by James Cameron, produced by his then-wife Gale Anne Hurd, and starring Sigourney Weaver, Carrie Henn, Michael Biehn, Paul Reiser, Lance Henriksen, William Hope, and Bill Paxton. It is the sequel to the 1979 film Alien and the second installment of the Alien franchise. The film follows Weaver's character Ellen Ripley as she returns to the planet where her crew encountered the hostile Alien creature, this time accompanied by a unit of space marines.
Gordon Carroll, David Giler and Walter Hill of Brandywine Productions, who produced the first film and the later sequels, were executive producers of Aliens. They were interested in a follow-up to Alien as soon as its 1979 release, but the new management at 20th Century Fox postponed those plans until 1983. That year Brandywine picked Cameron to write after reading his script for The Terminator, and once that film became a hit in 1984, Fox greenlit Aliens, that would also be directed by Cameron, with a budget of approximately $18 million.

Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back

The Empire Strikes Back is a 1980 American epic space opera film directed by Irvin Kershner. Leigh Brackett and Lawrence Kasdan wrote the screenplay, with George Lucas writing the film's story and serving as executive producer. The second release in the Star Wars franchise, it was produced by Gary Kurtz for Lucasfilm Ltd and stars Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams, Anthony Daniels, David Prowse, Kenny Baker, Peter Mayhew and Frank Oz.
The film is set three years after Star Wars. The Galactic Empire, under the leadership of the villainous Darth Vader and the Emperor Palpatine, is in pursuit of Luke Skywalker and the rest of the Rebel Alliance. While Vader chases a small band of Luke's friends—Han Solo, Princess Leia Organa, and others across the galaxy, Luke studies the Force under Jedi Master Yoda. When Vader captures Luke's friends, Luke must decide whether to complete his training and become a full Jedi Knight or to confront Vader and save his comrades.
Following a difficult production, The Empire Strikes Back was released on May 21, 1980.
