After sorting out how you feel about which Hogwarts house you're in and waving hello to whatever wand chooses you, congratulations: you're ready for more advanced magic. Now it's time to find out what your Patronus will be when you belt out "Expecto Patronum." All the Patronuses in Harry Potter, which repel Dementors or serve as messengers, are probably familiar to you. Harry's is a stag; Hermione's is an otter; Snape's is a doe; Professor McGonagall's and Dolores Umbridge's are cats. You might be less familiar with the Weasley twins' Patronuses: magpies (a tidbit author J.K. Rowling revealed in a tweet in 2018 after the books were published).
You can take a quiz on the Pottermore website to find out which Patronus is yours - you'll wind up with one of more than 100 animals not included in the books or films, from an aardvark to a vulture. But just like you might want a wand connected to a Harry Potter character, you might also wish you could conjure a Patronus connected to one of the characters in the series.
Be careful, however, about wishing you could choose a Patronus based on your favorite animal. As Rowling writes on Pottermore, Professor Catullus Spangle, 18th-century expert on Charms, was wary of those whose Patronuses were favored creatures: "It is my firm belief that such a Patronus is an indicator of obsession or eccentricity. Here is a wizard who may not be able to hide their essential self in common life, who may, indeed, parade tendencies that others might prefer to conceal."
Spangle's warning aside, vote up the Patronuses you most wish you could conjure.
