Everything The Harry Potter Characters Have Used The Room Of Requirement For

Updated 22 Apr 2019 6.6k views11 items

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry has many magical spaces, including hidden passageways, bathrooms with giant bubbling tubs, and a dining hall with a ceiling bewitched to reflect the real sky. But by far the coolest room at Hogwarts is the Room of Requirement. Many of the main characters have found uses for the Room of Requirement, some more sinister than others.

Throughout J.K. Rowling's series, the Room of Requirement serves as a secret meeting place, a wizard-style restroom, a romantic rendezvous spot, and more. To get in, someone must walk three times past the area on the seventh floor where the door is located, saying in their head what they want the room to be.

The Room of Requirement serves a different purpose for each character, but its essential function is to appear when it is needed most, fully equipped with whatever the person requires, whether that's a chamber pot, mistletoe, or endless space for hiding illicit objects.
