The Most Haunting Photos Of Hiroshima, Taken In The Aftermath Of The Atomic Bomb

Between the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the United States killed over 200,000 people. Photos of Hiroshima after the US's 1945 attack show just how devastating the decision was for countless innocent civilians.

The bomb, which the US called "Little Boy," totally destroyed everything within a one-mile radius and created lasting health issues for people who survived the blast. The weapon completely vaporized many Japanese citizens, leaving behind nothing but their nuclear shadows. Looking at photos of the grisly aftermath, it's hard to describe the US as victorious, since the destruction of human bodies constitutes loss on a global scale.
