Whether starring in titles like Black Widow and Captain Marvel or helping their male counterparts in the background, the women of the MCU are known for their fearlessness and heroism. It isn't all guts and glory, though. There are also some truly heartbreaking details about these characters. Fans online have spotted many of them so we can also experience these somber and tear-jerking moments. In Avengers: Infinity War, for example, when Thanos tortures Nebula it hits Gamora especially hard because she can see he's not altering reality with the Reality Stone. Further back in the MCU, when Tony Stark first conceives of the arc reactor, he faintly hears Pepper Potts' voice in the back of his head. Some of these details are even rooted in the real world, like how in Captain Marvel, Carol has a vision of a burning piano, which is something the actual Air Force will do when a pilot is killed in action.
In Avengers: Endgame, when Natasha and Steve are talking at the beginning of the movie about how she has to work on fixing everything, the soundtrack is a variation on the music used whenever people are sacrificed for the Soul Stone, foreshadowing her later death on Vormir.

In Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Peggy Carter stated 'The best thing we can do is start over.' Fast forward to Avengers: Endgame, Steve Rodgers travels back in time to relive the life he never had the chance to.
In Avengers: Endgame, a pair of pointe shoes (used in ballet) sit upon a seat near Black Widow, a reference to her origin story and presumably her attempt at coping with the losses endured in Infinity War.
In Iron Man 2, Tony Stark says the line 'It’s always been you,' when appointing Pepper Potts the new CEO of Stark Industries. He again references this line in the trailer for Avengers: Endgame, while sending a message to Potts.
