Hermione and Harry’s Dancing Scene In 'Deathly Hallows' Was NecessaryPhoto: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt. 1 / Warner Bros
From Redditor u/alithug:
A lot of people find this scene really cringey, some people love it, some people feel indifferent. You know when you watched DH and you come to Bill’s and Fleur’s wedding scene and thought “really, in the middle of all this?” Harry, Hermione, and Ron actually say that in times like this, a wedding can bring joy and hope.
After Ron leaves and Hermione and Harry are left alone, there’s a lot of sadness. The two are worried about Ron, Harry’s worried about not having enough time for the Horcruxes and literally about EVERYONE and the fate of the world, but Hermione... it’s different. She made her parents forget who she was in order to protect them so not only did she practically lose her parents to the war (mentally I suppose) she doesn’t think she’ll see her best friend again, she has to worry about coming up with something clever enough to find the Horcruxes cause let’s be honest, Harry isn’t much of a clever person, and on top of all that, they have the necklace trading on and off between them causing their negative feelings to amplify. That’s a LOT of weight to carry.
When Harry sees her all curled up to herself, I think he realizes “That’s not Hermione.” Hermione isn’t one to curl up and sulk and when she does, you know things are probably at their worst. The dancing brings a smile to not only her face, but his and it not only shows how strong their bond is, but that in the darkest of times, their friendship brings happiness to them—Even if it’s for such a small fraction of time.
So yes, I think it was necessary to show their smiles in such a dark time.Interesting point?
