The highest paid celebrities of 2013 range from the top stars in music, movies, television, news and sports, but all have one thing in common: In 2013, they all made a boatload of money. To put things simply, according to Forbes, these celebrities made more by getting out of bed in the morning than most did all year.
While many of the names on this list of the highest-paid celebrities of 2013 were also on the list of highest paid celebrities of 2012, there was a shakeup at the top. Television mogul Oprah Winfrey not only lost her spot atop the list but dropped out of the top ten entirely, despite making $77 million during the year. Instead, another powerful woman in the entertainment industry beat out all the rest as the highest paid. Madonna, through her tour, merchandise and various business dealings, earned $125 million in 2013, enough to take this year's top spot.
Moving further down the list, movie tycoons like Steven Spielberg, Michael Bay and Jerry Bruckheimer all retained their spots in the top ten with over $80 million in earnings but had some new company. E.L. James, author of "50 Shades of Grey," pulled in $95 million, enough to go from being unranked in 2012 to fourth in 2013.If these numbers look huge, and your measly salary suddenly doesn't look so great, don't feel bad. These are the richest of the rich in the entertainment business and with a lot of hard work and a little luck, the next aspiring actor, musician, television personality, filmmaker, athlete, author or even you could be the next big thing to break into this list in 2014!
