The Hollywood Walk of Fame encompasses about 15 blocks in Los Angeles, CA. It pays tribute to some of the most beloved performers in show business... and to Donald Trump. Millions of tourists flock to the long stretch of sidewalk yearly. However, there is a lot of Walk of Fame vandalism. A disgruntled citizen destroyed Donald Trump's star for the second time in July of 2018.

Trump isn't the only one who's suffered, though. Other big celebs have taken a few blows, as well. Apparently, even if you get a star on the famous Hollywood strip, someone may still smash your name to bits with a sledgehammer.

Vandals have destroyed Donald Trump's star on the Walk of Fame three times since he was elected to the office of President of the United States. In 2016, James Otis, heir to the Otis Elevator company, took a sledgehammer and pickaxe to the star after growing tired of Trump's behavior.

Then in July 2018, Austin Clay wrecked the star with a pickaxe. After destroying the star, Clay immediately turned himself in to police. In an interesting turn of events, Otis was the one to bail him out.

In September 2018, British-born artist Plastic Jesus put prison bars over Trump's star.

"It was very quickly damaged by a Trump supporter trying to remove it the bars did appear to be stuck fast and were there several hours later - to the amusement of thousands of passing tourists," he noted to HuffingtonPost in an email

The multiple acts of vandalism inspired the City of West Hollywood to vote "unanimously" on the approval of a resolution pushing the Los Angeles City Council and the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to remove Donald Trump's star permanently, saying "his disturbing treatment of women and other actions do not meet the shared values of the City of West Hollywood, the region, state, and country."

The council also listed the family separation crisis, his treatment of transgendered people, and refusal to face the realities of climate change as reasons to remove his star. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has never removed a star from the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

On October 24, 2017, an unknown vandal smashed reggae icon Bob Marley's star. Hollywood Chamber of Commerce spokesperson Ana Martinez noted, "It had been pounded on with what appears to be a sledgehammer." She  said the cost for repairs would be at least $3,000.

Mariah Carey's 2017 didn't get off to a very good start. She botched a performance on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest, and then someone marked up her Walk of Fame star. The vandal drew a large question mark next to Carey's name.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the cleanup cost $1,500.

In 2014, someone defaced Bill Cosby's star after several women came forward with sexual assault accusations against the actor. Hollywood Walk of Fame spokesperson Ana Martinez acknowledged the incident, suggesting people shouldn't take their emotions out on monuments. In a statement, she said, "When people are unhappy with one of our honorees, we would hope that they would project their anger in more positive ways then to vandalize a California state landmark."
