'Newt And His Merry Band Of Misfits'
that’s my biggest gripe with the movies. I thought it would be interesting following newt around with his animals. the franchise is literally called fantastic beasts. but now it seems more like dumbledore vs grindlewald featuring Newt and his merry band of misfits
How I long for the Newt & Jacob exploring the world trying to capture magical beasts movie that never existed becuase apparently Fantastic Beasts needed to be about Grindelwald.
Very funny to me that they took a movie called “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” and decided to do an espionage-heavy slog of a prequel about this old dork instead of a shamelessly Pokémon copycat thing with little monsters.
Honestly, this is what I loved about the 1st film. They could've easily done a "oh no, poachers!" magical pokemon hunt trilogy and everyone would've eaten it up. Instead, they decided to do this convluted backdoor entry to the Dumbledore-Grindelwald story and it suffered bc of it
My favourite part is when the wizards think Grindelwald becomes leader, he makes his “kill all muggles and half bloods” speech, everyone cheers and claps, then they realise it was a mistake and the nice lady becomes the leader and everyone forgets they were applauding genocide
