Exercise is not a new concept. It has been keeping people healthy for centuries. We all know it's important to work out your legs, arms, core, and engage in some cardio every now and then. As mainstream professions change, and it becomes increasingly easier to sit at a desk all day, exercise becomes more intentional, and anyone looking to fit a work out session into their daily grind will likely take the time to figure out what works best for them.
Weight lifting and aerobics have been around since the early 20th century. Bodybuilding became popular in the '90s in California when Muscle Beach began attracting celebrities such as former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. These days hot yoga and crossfit have been popularized. Regardless of your preferred method of exercise, however, it likely has a long history of trial and error.
These historical photos of what exercising used to look like prove that people have always found a way to get their bodies moving.
