  • Know The Best Brow For Your Face Shape

Ever wonder why your identical brows don't look as awesome on you as they do on your BFF? You may be plucking the wrong pattern for your unique bone structure. As it turns out, face shape plays a big part in determining your perfect brow.

Have a more oval face? Try tweezing a softer arch. Rocking a heart-shaped countenance? Go for a more rounded look. The results will surprise you (and look super flattering).

  • Don't Panic If Your Brows Aren't Identical

If your eyebrows aren't perfectly matched, don't worry – but don't keep plucking. The last thing you want is to eliminate your brows entirely! As the saying goes, "brows should be sisters, not twins." Instead, concentrate on making them start and end at roughly the same points on your face.

Even if your brows turn out looking more like distant cousins, you can even them out with some carefully applied brow pencil. And if you're really into being exact, consider trying one of these eyebrow rulers to keep everything symmetrical.

  • A Little Math Can Create The Perfect Arch

If you're not really the wing it type, then bust out your favorite measuring tool and behold: the Brow Quad Ratio. It uses a series of simple measurements to determine where your brow should start, end, and arch, all based on your unique facial structure. If you've got the patience and number smarts for it, this little chart promises to help you calculate your way to eyebrow greatness every time.

  • Know Where To Start And End Your Brows

If you're not quite sure where to start and end your brows, then just follow this simple, age-old trick: shape them to make your eyes appear ideally spaced. Typically, that means drawing a line up from the corner of your nose to the inside of your eye – that's where your brow should start. To determine where it should end, draw a line from the corner of your nose to the outer edge of your eye.

These measurements can be adjusted to make your eyes look closer set or further apart. And don't worry about remembering all of them, either – you can mark your measurements with your eyebrow pencil as you go.

  • Don't Pluck In Overly Bright Light

Cosmetics junkies know there's nothing worse than overly bright florescent lights. Not only do they make your makeup look wonky, but they can bring out each and every little hair that lurks on your face. So they are not to be trusted when it comes to brow plucking, as they may induce a tweezing frenzy.

Instead, try to do your plucking under warm or natural lighting; it will give you a much more realistic idea of the work that needs to be done.

  • Ditch The Magnifying Mirror

While your trusty magnifying mirror can be a great asset when applying the finer accents of your made-up look, kick it to the curb when it comes to your tweezing routine. What looks like okay plucking close-up may actually be a tweezing disaster when you view it from a normal distance. Stick to your bathroom mirror whenever you bust out the tweezers so you can keep an eye on the big picture.
