Industrial bands, over the years, have been known for their explosive live shows and ambitious, often times challenging music. The best industrial bands are known for exploring the sound space and structure and melding the formerly unfamiliar genres of electronic music and rock music. Industrial bands rose to prominence in the 1970s. Over time, industrial music has come to include ambient music as well. Several genres spawned from the initial industrial movement, like post-industrial, electro-industrial and the popular industrial metal. This list includes all industrial bands.

So, what are the best industrial bands? You'll see a bunch of familiar names, like Nine Inch Nails, Rammstein, Ministry, Atari Teenage Riot and Skinny Puppy on this list. Almost of all the bands on this list of industrial bands is widely recognized for their innovation and creativity in experimenting with sound. While many of these bands never achieved commercial acclaim, others became some of the biggest bands in the world.
