In 2006, the horrific massacre committed by Jeremy Steinke and Jasmine Richardson (known for years in the media only as "J.R.") rocked a small town in Alberta, Canada and sent shockwaves through the country’s justice system. Jeremy and Jasmine were two of many people who murder for love, but theirs was a love that never should have existed. He was a 23-year-old guy who thought he was a werewolf and she was 12-year-old girl who shouldn’t have been hanging out with Steinke.

When a 12-year-old girl's werewolf boyfriend kills her family the news travels fast. In the case of Jasmine Richardson and Jeremy Steinke, the small town that they lived in freaked out when they heard of the Richardson family’s werewolf encounter. It’s hard to tell if Steinke was a criminal who really thought he was a supernatural creature, or if he was just trying to cover his tracks in court. Either way, three innocent people graphically and horrifically lost their lives in 2006.

In 2006 Jeremy Steinke was a 23-year-old man who hung out around the Alberta, Canada punk music scene where he allegedly told people that he was a 300-year-old werewolf. According to acquaintances of Steinke's at the time of the murders, he was known to wear a vial of blood around his neck in order to prove his craving for blood and insisted he was an immortal creature. He even bragged about his lycan lifestyle on the Hot Topic version of Myspace - vampirefreaks.com - which is where he and the 12-year-old Richardson continued to develop their relationship.

After meeting at a punk show, Richardson and Steinke continued their relationship on vampirefreaks.com and attended local goth/punk shows as often as they could. Her friends claim that while the girl had once been "clean cut" she was quickly changing to be more goth now that she was under Steinke's control, and her online social media photos at the time proved this. When Richardson's family found out their preteen daughter was "dating" a 23-year-old they immediately forbid her from seeing Steinke and from going out with her friends. But the one thing she was still allowed to do was get online and check vampirefreaks.com, and that's where she and Steinke formulated a horrific plan.

Once Richardson's parents had forbidden her from seeing Steinke, she continued to talk to him through the Internet. The most surprising part about the plan was that it was the young woman who broached the initial plan to kill her parents. Online records show that he opening message to Steinke after she was banned from seeing him was: "I have this plan. It begins with me killing them and ends with me living with you.” Steinke's reply was made even more disturbing when it turned out to be the blueprint for his murders:

"Their throats I want to slit. They will regret the sh*t they have done. Especially when I see to it that they are gone. They shall pay for their insulince [sic]. Finally there shall be silence. Their blood shall be payment!”

The murder of the Richardson family was so brutal that it confounds the mind how someone could be so cold-blooded. By all accounts on the night of April 22, 2006 the couple watched Natural Born Killers before Steinke took a cocktail of alcohol, ecstasy, cocaine, and pot and broke into the Richardson's basement. He stalked his way through the home wearing a neoprene mask and found Debra Richardson. Steinke stabbed her 12 times, including once through the heart. Debra's husband Marc heard the struggle and rushed to save his family. After a brief tussle Steinke overpowered Mr. Richardson, stabbing him 24 times, including nine times in the back. According to Steinke when Mr. Richardson asked why he was murdering the family Steinke answered, "It's what your daughter wanted."
