Royal Union Baths

The Royal Union Baths, at Millbay, aparently one of Foulston's finest works was demolished to bring trains into Plymouth. Sea was brought into the baths from pipes laid in Plymouth sound to a point called "Rusty Anchor". A mineral spring was also used, coming from a depth of about 100m. This gave two swiming pools, six plunge pools, nine hot pools, douches and shampooing baths. There were also coffee and news rooms, giving the Union Baths similar status to those at Bath. ...more
