The Best K-pop Companies & Talent Agencies
As K-pop continues to grow in popularity, new entertainment companies, talent agencies, and record labels are popping up in South Korea and in other countries. The "Big 3" (JYP, YG, and SM) have been dominating the K-pop industry for decades, but that's not stopping smaller agencies from taking a piece of the billion-dollar market. Founded in 2005, Big Hit Entertainment has become one of the most popular Kpop agencies in the world, thanks to boy group BTS. In July 2019, the company acquired Source Music, home to girl group GFriend. What are the top Kpop companies?
Although YG Entertainment features Blackpink, one of the biggest girl groups today, founder Yang Hyun-suk was forced to step down from his CEO role due to the major Burning Sun scandal, which involved ex-Big Bang member Seungri and several other famous Korean celebrities. Other controversial Kpop companies include Cube Entertainment (firing Hyuna and E'Dawn after discovering their relationship), Pledis Entertainment (disbanding Pristin despite their early success), and SM Entertainment (forcing Jessica Jung out of Girl's Generation).
