The Absolute Lamest (Real) Holidays

Updated January 22, 2019 13.6k votes 1.4k voters 93.7k views50 items

A holiday is defined as: a day of festivity or recreation when no work is done. Holidays are a time of joy, of celebration, of uniting friends and family together for a common purpose. They're also a great excuse to take off work, to let your hair down, or to go shopping. Holidays are awesome. But the holidays on this list took things too far. These are the lamest, most pointless holidays, created for no good reason.

How do you mess up holidays? What do you have to do to make a thing that should be nothing but positive seem ridiculous? Ask the people who invented the dumb holidays on this list. From "Petroleum Day" to "Talk Like A Pirate Day" to whatever "Take It in the Ear Day" is, these silly holidays exist, no matter how silly they might be.

Vote up the holidays you think are the lamest on the list below and don't forget to set a calendar reminder for December 18th. How else will you remember it's National Roast Suckling Pig Day?
