"Life After Beth" movie quotes explore what happens when a beloved girlfriend and daughter comes back to life as a zombie after her death. The comedy film was written and directed by Jeff Baena. After premiering at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival, "Life After Beth" opened in theaters in the United States on August 15, 2014.

In "Life After Beth," Beth Slocum (Aubrey Plaza) dies due to snake bite while on a hike with boyfriend Zach Orfman (Dane DeHaan). This crushes Zach, but he finds solace in building a relationship with Beth's parents, Maury (John C. Reilly) and Geenie (Molly Shannon). So when days go by and Maury and Geenie stop returning his calls, Zach grows suspicious of what's happening.

Zach visits Beth's grave to see that there is a big hole where her casket would be. Upon visiting her home, he learns that Beth is alive and has no recollection of being dead. Zach is overjoyed to have her back but things soon turn ugly when he learns that Beth isn't just resurrected, she's a zombie and thirsting to feed on human flesh.

"Life After Beth" brings some levity to a summer 2014 movie season filled with other great films such as "The Expendables 3," "Let's Be Cops," "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," "The Hundred-Foot Journey "Guardians of the Galaxy," "Get On Up," "Hercules," "Lucy," "Magic in the Moonlight," "A Most Wanted Man," "Happy Christmas," "Planes: Fire & Rescue," "Sex Tape," "Wish I Was Here, "And So It Goes, and "Dawn of Planet of the Apes"".

She Is Not Dead, Is She?

    Video: YouTube

Maury Slocum: "Zach, you need to go"
    Zach Orfman: "Where is she?"
    Maury Slocum: "Who?"
    Zach Orfman: "Beth!"
Maury Slocum: "Listen, if you're upset at me for not returning your call.."
Zach Orfman: "No, she is not dead, is she? That's why you've been so secretive about everything. Am I right? Am I right, Maury? Just tell me!"
Maury Slocum: "You're not right. You're upset!"
    Zach Orfman: "Beth!
Maury Slocum: "Listen, Zach, you need to leave."
    Zach Orfman: "Beth!"
    Maury Slocum: "Okay, okay"
Zach Orfman: "Oh my gosh, Maury. Look who I found! It's Beth!"
Maury Slocum: "All right, calm down, Zach."
Beth Slocum: "What are you doing? Hey, I have that scarf."
Maury Slocum: "What was I supposed to do? He ran around me. He made a juke and he ran around me."
Zach Orfman: "What is going on here? What is going on here?"
Beth Slocum: "You're acting like a spaz."
Maury Slocum: "It's a little bit hard to explain."
Zach Orfman: "How could you do this to me, Beth? You made me think that you…"
Maury Slocum: "Hey, Zach, she didn't do anything."
Geenie Slocum: "Everything is normal. This just happens."
Beth Slocum: "What just happened? What did I do?"
Maury Slocum: "Nothing happened. It's normal. You're fine."
Zach Orfman: "Just tell me. Tell me. Tell me why you shut me out."
    Beth Slocum: "Tell you what?"
Maury Slocum: "Zach, why don't you and I go out and have a little conversation in private?"
    Zach Orfman: "No, Maury!"
Geenie Slocum: "I think that's a wonderful idea!"
Zach Orfman: "You lied to me!"
    Maury Slocum: "I never lied!"
Beth Slocum: "Why are you acting all weird?"
Zach Orfman: "I'm not acting weird. Stop playing dumb, Beth."
Beth Slocum: "I'm not playing dumb. You're freaking out."
Zach Orfman: "You know what, you're all crazy."
Geenie Slocum: "Listen to me, Zach. You need to calm down!"

Zach confronts the Slocums after they stop returning his calls only to learn that Beth, who died recently, is in her room acting like nothing is wrong. Beth has no idea she has risen from the dead and is upset that Zach is freaking out when he sees her.

    She's Resurrected!

    Video: YouTube

Zach Orfman: "She is not dead! I went to her grave. There's a hole in the ground."
    Geenie Slocum: "It's a miracle!"
    Maury Slocum: "It's a miracle!"
    Geenie Slocum: "She's resurrected!"
Zach Orfman: "Okay, and that's better why? Why is that better?"
Maury Slocum: "That's from the old testament!"
Beth Slocum: "Why's all my stuff in boxes now?"

Zach is convinced that Beth is alive, especially after visiting her grave to see a big hole in the ground. Her parents have a perfectly reasonable explanation: She's resurrected. You know, like in the old testament.

Zach Orfman: "I'm a mess, Mr. Slocum. There's just like so many things that I wish I had told her."
    Maury Slocum: "Me too"

After his girlfriend, Beth, dies, Zach takes comfort by building a relationship with her parents, including father Maury. Both wish Beth hadn't left them but neither expect her to magically rise from the dead.

    I Think They're Avoiding Me

    Photo: Metaweb / CC-BY

Zach Orfman: "Did anyone leave a message for me today? The Slocums?"
    Judy Orfman: "Nope, not today"
Zach Orfman: "I think they're avoiding me."

When Zach doesn't hear from the Slocums in a while, he grows worried. Usually they'd talk often but it seems as though they've cut off contact for some reason.
