Autodesk 3ds Max

Autodesk 3ds Max, formerly 3D Studio Max, is a professional 3D computer graphics program for making 3D animations, models, games and images. It is developed and produced by Autodesk Media and Entertainment. It has modeling capabilities, a flexible plugin architecture and can be used on the Microsoft Windows platform. It is frequently used by video game developers, many TV commercial studios and architectural visualization studios. It is also used for movie effects and movie pre-visualization.
In addition to its modeling and animation tools, the latest version of 3ds Max also features shaders, dynamic simulation, particle systems, radiosity, normal map creation and rendering, global illumination, a customizable user interface, and its own scripting language.

Autodesk SketchBook Pro

SketchBook Pro, also referred to as SketchBook, is a pixel graphics software application that features a radial/pie-menu user interface, intended for expressive drawing and concept sketching. It was originally developed by Alias Systems Corporation, but is now owned by Autodesk.
SketchBook Pro has an uncluttered interface, and painting and drawing tools such as pencils, markers, and brushes. By using the pressure-sensitive features of graphics tablets, tablet computers, and smartphones, it can help artists sketch and create effects similar to traditional materials.
Autodesk SketchBook Pro software also features a screenshot tool for annotation, allowing one to show content during a meeting and add notes as the content is reviewed. The previous/next buttons make it possible to create flipbooks or animations. The program supports layers with import and export of Photoshop format. Other features include rulers, symmetry, the ability to customize brushes, create texture brushes, and rotate the canvas.

Autocad

AutoCAD is a commercial software application for 2D and 3D computer-aided design and drafting — available since 1982 as a desktop application and since 2010 as a mobile web- and cloud-based app marketed as AutoCAD 360.
Developed and marketed by Autodesk, Inc., AutoCAD was first released in December 1982, running on microcomputers with internal graphics controllers. Prior to the introduction of AutoCAD, most commercial CAD programs ran on mainframe computers or minicomputers, with each CAD operator working at a separate graphics terminal.
AutoCAD is used across a wide range of industries, by architects, project managers, engineers, graphic designers, and other professionals. It is supported by 750 training centers worldwide as of 1994.
As Autodesk's flagship product, by March 1986 AutoCAD had become the most ubiquitous CAD program worldwide. As of 2014, AutoCAD is in its twenty-ninth generation, and collectively with all its variants, continues to be the most widely used CAD program throughout most of the world.

Autodesk AliasStudio

Autodesk Alias is a family of computer-aided industrial design products starting with Alias Design as the entry-level conceptual design system, progressing to Alias Surface, and then to Alias Automotive as the top-of-the-line product with all of the options.
Tools for sketching, modeling and visualization are combined in one software package. It meets the specialized needs of designers: sketching, freedom to experiment with shape and form, creating organic shapes, visualization for design review, and data exchange with CAD packages.
As the product is sold specifically as CAID rather than CAD, its tools and abilities are oriented more towards the "styling" aspect of design - that is to say, the product's housing and outer appearance. It does not go into mechanical detail to anywhere near the extent that CAD programs such as Catia, Siemens NX, Inventor, Pro/ENGINEER and SolidWorks do, but has a much more powerful set of tools for the creation of precisely sculpted curves and surfaces.
After Alias was acquired by Autodesk, StudioTools changed its name to Autodesk AliasStudio.

Autodesk Animator

Autodesk Animator was a 2D computer animation and painting program created in 1989 by Yost Group for Autodesk and ran on a PC on MS-DOS.
The program was considered to be groundbreaking in the field of computer animation when it was initially released, and was very popular in the late 1980s and the early 1990s. Eventually development on the product ended and it became no longer supported by Autodesk.
Animator gave the ability to do frame-by-frame animation. Animator Studio also had tweening features.
Animator and Animator Pro supported FLI and FLC animation file formats. Animator Studio also supported AVI format.

AutoCAD Architecture

AutoCAD Architecture is a version of Autodesk's flagship product, AutoCAD, with tools and functions specially suited to architectural work.
Architectural objects have a relationship to one another and interact with each other intelligently. For example, a window has a relationship to the wall that contains it. If you move or delete the wall, the window reacts accordingly. Objects can be represented in both 2D and 3D.
In addition, intelligent architectural objects maintain dynamic links with construction documents and specifications, resulting in more accurate project deliverables. When someone deletes or modifies a door, for example, the door schedule can be automatically updated. Spaces and areas update automatically when certain elements are changed, calculations such as square footage are always up to date.
AutoCAD Architecture uses the DWG file format but an object enabler is needed to access, display, and manipulate object data in applications different from AutoCAD Architecture.
AutoCAD Architecture was formerly known as AutoCAD Architectural Desktop but Autodesk changed its name for the 2008 edition.

Autodesk Inventor

Autodesk Inventor, developed by U.S.-based software company Autodesk, is a computer-aided design application for creating 3D digital prototypes used in the design, visualization and simulation of products. It uses ShapeManager, their proprietary geometric modeling kernel.
Autodesk Inventor competes directly with SolidWorks and Solid Edge.

Autodesk Vault

Autodesk Vault is a data management tool integrated with Autodesk Inventor Series, Autodesk Inventor Professional, AutoCAD Mechanical, AutoCAD Electrical, Autodesk Revit and Civil 3D products. It helps design teams track work in progress and maintain version control in multi-user environments. It allows them to organize and reuse designs by consolidating product information and reducing the need to re-create designs from scratch. Users can store and search both CAD data and non-CAD documents.

JetStream

Navisworks is a 3D design review package for Microsoft Windows.
Used primarily in construction industries to complement 3D design packages Navisworks allows users to open and combine 3D models, navigate around them in real-time and review the model using a set of tools including comments, redlining, viewpoint, and measurements. A selection of plug-ins enhances the package adding interference detection, 4D time simulation, photorealistic rendering and PDF-like publishing.
The software was originally created by Sheffield, UK based developer NavisWorks however NavisWorks was purchased by Autodesk for $25 million in cash, on June 1, 2007.

Autodesk Maya

Autodesk Maya, commonly shortened to Maya, is a 3D computer graphics software that runs on Windows, OS X and Linux, originally developed by Alias Systems Corporation and currently owned and developed by Autodesk, Inc. It is used to create interactive 3D applications, including video games, animated film, TV series, or visual effects. The product is named after the Sanskrit word Maya, the Hindu concept of illusion.

Mudbox

Mudbox is a proprietary computer-based 3D sculpting and painting tool. Currently developed by Autodesk, Mudbox was created by Skymatter, founded by Tibor Madjar, David Cardwell and Andrew Camenisch, former artists of Weta Digital, where it was first used to produce the 2005 Peter Jackson remake of King Kong. Mudbox's primary application is high-resolution digital sculpting, texture painting, and displacement and normal map creation, although it is also used as a design tool.

Autodesk Revit

Autodesk Revit is building information modeling software for architects, structural engineers, MEP engineers, designers and contractors. It allows users to design a building and structure and its components in 3D, annotate the model with 2D drafting elements, and access building information from the building model's database. Revit is 4D BIM capable with tools to plan and track various stages in the building's lifecycle, from concept to construction and later demolition.

Autodesk Softimage

Autodesk Softimage, or simply Softimage was a 3D computer graphics application, owned by Autodesk, for producing 3D computer graphics, 3D modeling, and computer animation. Formerly Softimage|XSI, the software was predominantly used in the film, video game, and advertising industries for creating computer generated characters, objects, and environments.
Released in 2000 as the successor to Softimage|3D, Softimage|XSI was developed by its eponymous company, then a subsidiary of Avid Technology. On October 23, 2008, Autodesk acquired the Softimage brand and 3D animation assets from Avid for approximately $35 million, thereby ending Softimage Co. as a distinct entity. In February 2009, Softimage|XSI was rebranded Autodesk Softimage.
A free version of the software, called Softimage Mod Tool, was developed for the game modding community to create games using the Microsoft XNA toolset for PC and Xbox 360, or to create mods for games using Valve Software's Source engine, Epic Games' Unreal Engine and others. It was discontinued with the release of Softimage 2014.
