When The Mandalorian finally arrived on television sets, phones, tablets, and computer screens everywhere, it was an instant hit - which wasn't much of a surprise. With Jon Favreau working to bring the show to life, using a ton of Disney cash to make it look great, as well as a talented cast, The Mandalorian was bound to be a success. While nobody could have predicted how adorable Baby Yoda would be, there was another fun surprise the series gave fans: more celebrity guest stars than you can shake a lightsaber at.
It's not surprising that most celebrities would want to land a role on a hot Star Wars IP, but the plethora of stars who've shown up on the series is rather surprising. Every episode has at least one - and often several - comedians, actors, actresses, and die-hard Star Wars fans pop up in one role after the other. This list compiles all of The Mandalorian guest stars who've shown up in the first season, including Jason Sudeikis, Clancy Brown, and Favreau himself.
Episodes: "Chapter 1," "Chapter 2: The Child," and "Chapter 7: The Reckoning"
Details:Kuill is a vapor farmer on Arvala-7, where he tries his best to stay out of everyone's way. He helps Mando in his original mission to find Baby Yoda, and returns to help him in "The Reckoning." He has a strong background in tech and maintenance, and was formerly under Imperial enslavement. He is seemingly slain by former Imperial stormtroopers at the end of "The Reckoning."
Kuill is voiced by none other than Hollywood veteran Nick Nolte, well known for his appearances in the 48 Hours series, Ang Lee's Hulk, and many more films and television shows.
Details: Though this bike trooper was never given an official name, he quickly became infamous on the internet for punching "Baby Yoda" while the poor kid was stuffed in his sack. Comedian Jason Sudeikis lent his voice to Bike Scout Trooper #1, and the internet will never let him forget it.
A veteran performer of both Second City and ComedySportz, Sudeikis was a regular cast member on Saturday Night Live from 2005-2013. He's appeared in several films, including Horrible Bosses, We're the Millers, and Colossal.
Details: Paz Vizla is one of the Mandalorians who confronts Mando when he brings Imperial-stamped Beskar into their enclave. The two nearly get into a fight, but it is broken up. Later in the episode, when Mando is surrounded by the other members of the Guild, Paz Vizla and the rest of the Mandalorians join forces in his defense and give Mando enough time to escape.
The actor inside Paz Vizla's costume is Tait Fletcher, but he's voiced by The Mandalorian's creator and executive producer Jon Favreau. Favreau is best known these days for directing Iron Man, which launched the MCU, but he's also been a major player in other films and television series since he got into the business back in 1992. His film hits include Elf, The Jungle Book (2016), and The Lion King (2019).
Details:Bill Burr plays Mayfield, an outlaw who used to be an Imperial sharpshooter. Of course, this plays on the joke that Stormtroopers can't shoot the broad side of a Star Destroyer, and Mando references this by saying Mayfield's former profession doesn't say much about his talent. Mayfield immediately yells back, "I wasn't a stormtrooper, wise-*ss!"
Burr is an actor and comedian who is probably best known for his stand-up and appearances in Date Night, Stand Up Guys, Walk of Shame, and Breaking Bad.
Episodes: "Chapter 1" and "Chapter 7: The Reckoning"
Details:IG-11 is a bounty hunter employed by the Guild to recover the package that turns out to be Baby Yoda. Mando discovers him infiltrating the compound protecting the child, and the two agree to work together. IG-11 hilariously attempts to destroy himself when the outcome doesn't look like it's going his way, but Mando convinces him to hold off until they eliminate all the bad guys. When IG-11 moves to terminate the child, Mando blasts him.
A rebuilt IG-11 appears again in "The Reckoning," much to Mando's astonishment. Though the droid has been reprogrammed by Kuill to provide assistance and security, Mando isn't comfortable having him around.
IG-11 is voiced by Taika Waititi, who directed both the pilot episode and "The Reckoning." Waititi is best known for directing Thor: Ragnarok, Jojo Rabbit, and What We Do in the Shadows. He's done a significant amount of acting and vocal work as well.
Details: Peli Motto runs the maintenance operation of docking bay 35 at Mos Eisley Spaceport on the familiar planet Tatooine. When Mando shows up with his busted ship, she begins working on it. She quickly discovers Baby Yoda and cares for him until Mando returns.
If Peli Motto looks familiar to you, you likely noticed she was played by Amy Sedaris. Sedaris has been working in movies and television since the early 1990s. Her most prominent appearances include roles in Strangers With Candy, Elf, and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. She's also done voice-over work, playing Jill in Puss in Boots and Princess Carolyn in Bojack Horseman.
