The Matrix is a beloved sci-fi film franchise that couldn't be more relevant than in the times we currently live in. With a fourth film in the franchise just now seeing a release, fans of the franchise are now turning to Reddit to expose several Matrix series details that have initially gone over the heads of a majority of viewers.
Some of these details may come across as more strange than others. However, all of these details have what it takes to leave any viewer with at least just a little bit more Matrix knowledge than they had previously.
In The Matrix, the corporation Neo works for is called “Metacortex.” The roots of this word are "meta" - "going beyond or higher, transcending," and "cortex," the outer layer of the brain. Thus, Metacortex is "transcending the boundaries of the brain," which is precisely what Neo proceeds to do.
Inside the Matrix, everything is tinted green. But when Agent Smith becomes a rogue program, his suit turns charcoal black like Neo's clothes, while the other Agents keep the green tint.
In The Matrix (1999), the club where Neo meets Trinity is an actual BDSM club in Sydney. The extras were all patrons of the club who wore their own gear.
When Switch and Trinity pick up Neo before he is told about the Matrix, Switch calls him “coppertop.” Duracell batteries are called coppertops. Neo is still in the Matrix, and his body is being used as a battery! Switch was telling him what he was before the audience knew!
