Melissa McCarthy is by far one of the raunchiest (and most hilarious) comedians of our time. Although the actress started out as the quirky and sweet Sookie St. James on Gilmore Girls, her role as the potty-mouthed Megan in Bridesmaids left audiences with their jaws on the floor. Ever since, McCarthy has taken on a series of roles that continued Megan's crass and crude behavior. No-nonsense, badass women have come to define McCarthy's taste in Hollywood film roles. And studios are dying to get her uncensored humor on camera for their next project, as McCarthy remains one of the most in-demand actors right now.
But have you ever wondered if McCarthy is really that crude in real life? Her sense of humor may be raunchy, but does McCarthy's life match her sexually graphic jokes? McCarthy is actually pretty hush-hush when it comes to her personal life. Aside from her day-to-day married life, McCarthy scarcely shares any intimate details about what goes on behind closed doors. But what McCarthy has shared is well worth the read. The star's sex and dating anecdotes are just as hilarious as she is. Even though McCarthy tries to separate her foul-mouthed onscreen antics from her Hollywood persona, the two will always be bound in some way.If you've ever been curious about what goes on in her NSFW headspace, here are all the TMI facts about Melissa McCarthy's sex life.
It's not surprising that a sex scene would be off-limits for a Hollywood star's children, but the faux sex tape at the end of Bridesmaids is completely banned in Melissa McCarthy's house. McCarthy's character and her real-life husband share a sandwich in the bedroom in one of the film's more hilarious (and disgusting) scenes. Asked whether she'd ever let her kids watch the clip, McCarthy yelped "No!" "I think they would take my kids away if I let them," she added.
In an interview with LGBT magazine The Advocate, McCarthy opened up about her own strife with figuring out her orientation and identity. "Growing up with so many gay friends, I was always in the minority as a straight girl, so there was definitely a time when I was like, 'Boy, everywhere we go, I’m not meeting any fun guys … Am I looking in the wrong place?'" she said.
Questions about McCarthy's own sexuality led her to believe that the struggle is universal. "I don't buy it if anyone says they haven't. I think everyone does at some point," she said.
McCarthy admitted to having mostly gay friends growing up - and her dating and social life definitely reflected that. According to McCarthy, she had relationships with multiple men who turned out to be playing for the other team. Asked about her gay dating mishaps, McCarthy admitted "there were so many."
"In my early 20s I was like the last stop before a guy said, 'Yep, it’s official: I’m gay.' I’d be like, 'Really?!' I’d think, 'But he’s so funny, so charming, and such a good dresser.' I never saw it coming," she explained.
If any of McCarthy's girl-on-girl fantasies ever played out, she's hoping it'd be with Lena Dunham. The Bridesmaids actress gushed over her girl crush on Dunham for an interview with The Advocate.
"The more I watch Girls the more I realize I’m crazy about Lena Dunham. She’s my girl crush," she said. "She’s smart, funny, confident, and she isn’t afraid to look awkward. She’s exactly who she is, take it or leave it. Nothing’s more charming than someone who doesn’t take herself too seriously."
