List of famous Mormon executives and businesspeople. These Mormon professionals, working for companies and major corporations in a variety of fields and industries, are all members in good standing of the Church of Latter Day Saints, and are considered practicing Mormons. Some have become known for bringing their Mormon beliefs and values into their businesses, including Sheri Dew, the CEO of large Latter-day Saint book publisher Deseret Books, while others have served companies in an entirely secular capacity. Two Mormons have been active in both business and the 2012 Presidential campaign - Mitt Romney and Jon Huntsman Jr. - and with them, Mormons in business have become more visible in America. Huntman's father, Jon Huntsman Sr., was a primary backer of his campaign for president, and Mitt Romney as well was backed by notable Mormon executives, including members of the Marriott family (owners of the hotel franchise.)
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (sometimes known simply as the LDS Church or the Mormon Church) is the largest denomination in the "Latter Day Saint Movement" inspired by the message of Joseph Smith. The church currently claims 14.1 million adherents around the world, with 50,000 missionaries currently serving worldwide. The church models its teachings and organizations on Joseph Smith's original Church of Christ, founded in 1830.
The Mormon culture that inspired some of these artists is also distinctive in many ways, both because of the geographical center of Mormonism in the Intermountain West and the family-oriented worldview of the church itself.
