These scholars and science professionals, working in a variety of disciplines and industries, are all members in good standing of the Church of Latter Day Saints, and are considered practicing Mormons. They include a number of important researchers, theorists and inventors from US history, such as Philo Farnsworth, inventor of the cathode ray televison, and Alvino Rey, investor of the pedal steel guitar. There have even been Mormon astronauts!
