List Rules Vote up those people and films you think deserve to have been Academy Award nominees in 2014
The most egregious Oscar snubs of 2014 are the really great 2013 films, acting performances and directorial work that were very much deserving of a 2014 Academy Awards nomination but didn't receive one. Have a favorite that didn't make the cut? Add or vote on them below to this list of the most egregious 2014 Oscar snubs!
Perhaps the biggest snub of the 2014 Oscars is none other than Tom Hanks. If he didn't receive a Best Actor nomination for "Captain Phillips" then surely a Best Supporting Actor nomination for "Saving Mr. Banks" was in order, right? Wrong! Along with co-star Emma Thompson, who easily deserved a Best Actress nomination, Hanks and "Banks" were both snubbed.
But that's just the beginning, with other favorites missing out on nominations as well. Spike Jonze, Joaquin Phoenix and Scarlett Johansson made "Her" something magical, but outside of Best Picture, all received snubs. "Inside Llewyn Davis" was another notable snub with Carey Mulligan and Oscar Isaac absent from the nominations. Heck, even some of the technical categories had interesting selections. "The Hunger Games" Catching Fire" had some amazing wardrobe, yet didn't earn a nom for Best Costume Design.
So while most times the Academy gets it right, in these cases, they certainly left a lot on the table to ponder.
