List RulesVote up the irrational fears that are actually pretty scary.

Children are afraid of the dark. Adults are afraid of financial ruin. The elderly are afraid of dying alone. Everyone is afraid of open closet doors (you never know what could be in there). Fear can unite us, but what happens when you suffer from a fear that's all your own? This list of irrational fears may just contain yours, or perhaps it will give you new fears you didn't even know you needed.

The irrational fears of Reddit users are both strange and very specific, and while some are rather puzzling, others - odd as they may be - make perfect sense. Vote up the irrational fears likely to keep you up at night.

    Antique Elevators

    From Redditor /u/Bagellegal:

Shakey or old elevators. Whenever I ride one, I have this irrational fear that the wire will snap while I'm in it.

Getting Eaten By Sharks In The Middle Of The Atlantic

    From Redditor /u/carolinemathildes:

That I will be on a flight across the Atlantic, and the plane will crash. But I will manage to survive the crash, [be] forced to tread water, and then be eaten alive by sharks.

It combines my fear of heights and deep water.

    Oddly frightening?
