In October 2019, the New York Times published the top 10 most watched Netflix Original movies of the year, according to the steaming services's third-quarter earnings. The data collected accounts for subscribers who watched at least 70 percent of the film. From October 2018 to October 2019, the most viewed Netflix original movies include everything from the adventure thriller Triple Frontier to the romantic comedy Always Be My Maybe to the competitive documentary FyreThe Greatest Party That Never Happened, proving that the streaming audience has a truly diverse taste.

Netflix has, according to the New York Times, more than 158 million subscribers worldwide, and the most popular Netflix original movies of 2019 have been watched by anywhere from 20 million to 80 million accounts. If you're looking for new content you can access in your living room or bed - or even on an airplane - the most watched Netflix originals in 2019 clearly adhere to high standards, or at the very least are entertaining.

The most watched Netflix original movie of 2019 is Bird Box, which, next to the highest grossing film of 2019, Avengers: Endgame, proves that the year's cinematic audience is looking not only for adventure, but a complex narrative. Regardless of which titles are the most viewed original movies on Netflix in 2019, however, the question of which is the most watchworthy still remains.
